Music has always been my passion which led me to study for a BA(Hons) in Music from the University of Leeds, focusing on community music and composition. After graduating I worked as a piano tutor and community musician for various charities, including work with families with children with disabilities and leading a choir for people living with dementia. I became more interested in the therapeutic power of music and decided to study music therapy, graduating with a Masters in Music Therapy from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. Since then I have worked as a music therapist in a variety of settings and published some of my work in the New Zealand Journal of Music Therapy.
Currently at MusicPlace North-West, I work mostly in special education, working with students of various ages in individual and group settings in schools and colleges. I love getting to know my clients, and working with them to explore their interests and work towards their goals. My main instruments are piano and ukulele, and I enjoy learning about all different types of music. I feel very privileged to be able to do this work and meet so many amazing people.
